hollywood district house remodel

When Jay and Melissa were expecting their first child they soon realized their modest bungalow wasn’t large enough for their growing family. They researched selling their home and purchasing nearby, but soon realized the best solution was to stay in their current home and undergo a remodel. After all, they loved their neighbors and valued raising their son in such a wonderful place.

They called in Spinnaker Architect, Kendra Lwebuga, who specializes in old Portland home remodels – keeping the integrity and history of the home. The plan included adding a dormer and finishing the basement, ultimately doubling the home's square footage with three additional bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a media and sound studio. We worked with the new family selecting finishes, surfaces, colors and lighting that updated the home, while still allowing it to maintain its Craftsman identity.

Melissa said,

"We had 23 people at our house for Thanksgiving and everyone commented on how beautiful the house was. We especially got a lot of comments on the kitchen tiles. I love telling people it is 'kick #ss glass'"
